Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- A Sri Lankan deputy minister has claimed that printing money does not lead to an increase in inflation, arguing that the nation's economy is now stable.

Speaking to reporters today (18), Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Dr. Prasanna Gunasena, stated that if printing money did cause inflation, then current inflation rates would be rising, when in fact, they have decreased.

The comments were made at an event held at the Katubedda Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) tourist depot.

Dr. Gunasena also highlighted that the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has surpassed 20,000 points for the first time in its history, a sign that the country's economy is stabilising.
