Modernised Bambalapitiya Railway Station opened
Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- The modernised Bambalapitiya Railway Station was declared open for public use today (10) under the patronage of Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
The renovation was completed within five months at a cost of 60 million rupees, fully funded by the local Bohra community as part of the 'Sihina Gamananthaya' project, a national initiative aimed at upgrading 100 railway stations island-wide through public-private partnerships. The initiative is jointly executed by the Public Transport Planning division of the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the Department of Railways, and private sector partners.
