Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- A five-member team of specialist doctors treating former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that he needs to remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment.

The doctors submitted a report to the National Hospital today (25), stating that his health condition has not improved to a satisfactory level.

The former president, who was arrested and remanded in connection with the alleged misuse of state funds, is scheduled to have his case called again tomorrow (26).

According to Prisons Department Spokesman Jagath Weerasinghe, if the medical recommendation is to keep Wickremesinghe in the ICU, he will not be able to be taken outside the hospital for his court hearing.
