Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association has announced that its members will launch a massive strike next Monday (11) if the problems faced by doctors are not resolved within 72 hours.

According to Assistant Secretary and Media Spokesperson Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the primary issue is the lack of a proper and equitable system for transferring doctors.

He said that this has created a major problem in providing quality health services across the country.

Dr. Wijesinghe added that the transfer process for the nearly 23,000 doctors in the system must be conducted in a correct, systematic, transparent, and efficient manner.
