Sri Lanka, Oct. 4 -- Residents held a silent protest in the centre of Mattegoda town today (04), displaying protest boards against a proposed funeral hall to be built on an 80-perch plot of land in the Mattegoda housing scheme at a cost of nearly Rs.40 million from the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha general fund.

The Mattegoda Protection Collective organised the protest.

Residents demand that although a funeral hall is needed for residents of about 1,200 houses in the Mattegoda housing scheme, it should be constructed in another location rather than at this site.
