Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- Arachchikattuwa Police have arrested a 63-year-old man in possession of a Galkatas-type firearm following a confrontation with his estranged son.
The arrest was made after the police received a telephone call reporting that an individual was keeping a firearm.
Police stated that the 63-year-old suspect had reportedly abandoned his family and gone to live with another woman approximately 35 years ago, when his son was an infant.
The father recently attempted to re-establish contact with his son (41) and the rest of his family, but the son objected, leading to a heated argument.
During the altercation, a cartridge from the suspect's Gal Katas-type weapon reportedly fell onto the ground.
