Sri Lanka, May 12 -- Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa left the Bribery Commission after providing a statement for approximately two hours.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption summoned the former president in relation to an investigation regarding the purchase of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines.
The Bribery Commission filed a case against the former Chief Executive Officer of the company, Kapila Chandrasena, who died under suspicious circumstances recently, for allegedly accepting USD 2 million as a bribe during this transaction.
The Bribery Commission previously informed the court that Kapila Chandrasena stated Rs.60 million was given to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on three occasions.
