Sri Lanka, April 25 -- A lorry transporting firewood from Wellawaya to the Hatton Abotsleigh Estate veered off the road and fell into a 100-foot precipice today (25). Police stated that the driver and his assistant sustained injuries and were initially admitted to the Lindula Hospital.

Due to the severity of their condition, both individuals were subsequently transferred to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM near the Glasgow Estate on the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road.

The vehicle reportedly lost control and plunged into the ravine following a mechanical failure where the braking system suddenly malfunctioned.
