Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- A lorry carrying a load of tiles from Colombo to Bandarawela overturned onto the railway line today (11) following a brake failure.

The accident occurred near the Kolathenna railway crossing, situated between the Diyatalawa and Bandarawela railway stations on the Upcountry line.

Upon experiencing brake failure, the driver steered the vehicle towards the railway track, colliding with an oncoming motorcycle before the lorry overturned on the railway line. The driver of the lorry and the motorcyclist sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Railway authorities confirmed that train operations on the Upcountry line were not disrupted by the incident.
