Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- The Colombo Excise Special Operations Unit has busted a racket of selling watered-down liquor at a liquor store in Pottuvil.

The raid was conducted following a complaint received by Excise Commissioner General M.B.N.A. Pemaratne.

Investigations revealed that the store was subtly opening bottles from a popular liquor company, mixing them with water, re-sealing them, and then selling them to customers.

Excise officers seized 33 of these bottles.

The Excise Commissioner General has ordered the liquor store to be sealed and temporarily closed until investigations are complete.
