Sri Lanka, Oct. 2 -- The wholesale price of limes at the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Center has reached unprecedented levels, currently trading between Rs. 1,700 and 1,800 per kilogramme.
P. A. Siriwardhana, President of the Dambulla Traders' Association, confirms that a reduced lime harvest, coupled with an inability to meet the current high demand, has driven the price hike.
The association president also notes that the wholesale price of pumpkin has climbed from Rs. 30 to Rs. 60 per kilogramme.
Other vegetable prices are also elevated:
Brinjal (aubergine) is selling for Rs. 230 per kilogramme.
Beetroot is priced between Rs. 50 and 60 per kilogramme.
Tomatoes are fetching Rs. 110 per kilogramme.
