Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- The Leader of the House, Bimal Rathnayake, has asked the Parliamentary Caucus on Arts and Cultural Affairs to arrange a screening of the acclaimed Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par for Members of Parliament.
Rathnayake's proposal was made during a debate on a new bill that aims to outlaw corporal punishment and damaging disciplinary methods for children.
The Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, introduced by Minister Saroja Paulraj, has received support from opposition MPs, although MP Ajith P. Perera has voiced concerns that the legislation's language could be too broad, potentially affecting parents and teachers.
