Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- The results of a recent island-wide animal census in Sri Lanka have been released, providing new figures for several key wildlife populations.
According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Namal Karunaratne, the census found that the country is home to over 05 million toque monkeys.
The count also revealed 1.7 million other types of monkeys, 2.6 million grizzled giant squirrels, and 4.2 million peacocks.
The Deputy Minister also noted that the entire census was conducted at a cost of Rs. 3.8 million.
