Sri Lanka, Feb. 14 -- The body of a Sri Lankan crew member of a Singapore-bound container vessel was pulled out of the Hooghly on Friday evening after he reportedly jumped into the water near Netaji Subhas Dock. Cops said the victim was employed on the vessel named Kota Dunia.

The cops fear that the victim might have died by suicide, even as they contacted the Sri Lankan Embassy to ascertain whether his family would like to lodge any complaint. According to preliminary information, the crew member was identified as Bandarawatte Vidanelage Prabashwara Tharindu Bandarawatte, a Sri Lankan national.
