Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- The land occupied by the Kopay Police Station in Jaffna was handed over to its seven original owners yesterday (15), with the Police also vacating the residential quarters on the premises.
The Police Media Division stated that this eviction was carried out under an order issued by the Jaffna Court.
The move sees the Kopay Police vacate the land, including the area used for residential quarters, which they had occupied for nearly 30 years, and return it to the original owners.
Police stated that the eviction followed a court ruling in a case filed by the original owners, who argued that it was their ancestral land and should be returned.
