Sri Lanka, July 21 -- The Officer in Charge of the Crime Investigation Branch of the Karandeniya Police, who was accused of committing acts of indiscipline, was suspended, the Police stated.

The allegations against him include falsely accusing a group of police officers, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, of committing a murder, attempting to make that police team guilty, and posting photographs and videos on social media causing harm to the reputation of the police.

Charges are levelled against him for making entries in logbooks indicating that the death of Viraj Rashmika de Silva, whose body was retrieved while floating in the Ging Ganga, was committed by a team including the Acting Director of the Galle Crimes Division....
