Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- The Value Added Tax (VAT) for July 2026 must be paid before August 20, the Inland Revenue Department informed.

The department emphasised that fines will be imposed for non-payment or delayed payment.

A payment made via a cheque, bank draft, or payment order received after the due date will also be considered a delayed payment.

The submission of VAT returns for July must be carried out on or before August 31, and the notice mentions that the reports should be submitted online.

Meanwhile, the Inland Revenue Department requests taxpayers to take steps to pay withholding taxes on or before August 15.
