Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- Lawyers in Jaffna staged a strike today (7), protesting the alleged unlawful entry and search of a colleague's home by the police without a court warrant.
The lawyers accuse the police of illegally entering and searching the house of an Attorney-at-Law without any judicial authorisation.
This incident occurred amidst an ongoing police investigation into land deed fraud, in which several lawyers in Jaffna have been implicated.
Police officers reportedly entered the residence of a lawyer accused of involvement in the land fraud with the intent of arresting him, and proceeded to conduct a search operation inside the house.
