Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- A Sub-Inspector from the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Unit has been detained by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on suspicion of having ties to the criminal organisation led by Kehelbaddara Padme.

According to police, the officer is thought to have been in contact with Padme, who was recently extradited from Indonesia along with four other prominent crime figures.

The Criminal Investigation Department is currently looking into the full extent of the officer's supposed involvement with the underworld network.
