Sri Lanka, June 5 -- An investigation commenced into a group of drivers, conductors, and technical workers belonging to the Kandy region of the Sri Lanka Transport Board who submitted forged medical certificates to obtain sick leave by counterfeiting the official stamp and signature of a specialist doctor.

This fake medical certificate racket came to light due to a suspicion raised over medical certificates submitted by a group of employees at the Teldeniya Sri Lanka Transport Board depot, and the details were revealed when the Teldeniya depot manager sent a letter to the Director of the Kandy National Hospital inquiring about verifying the authenticity of the medical certificates.
