Sri Lanka, Oct. 11 -- A total of 47 Indian fishermen who were apprehended by the Sri Lanka Navy for illegally entering Sri Lankan waters and engaging in fishing have been placed in remand custody.
The Indian fishermen, who were taken into naval custody on 9 October in the Mannar sea area, have been remanded until October 23.
Separately, another group of 17 Indian fishermen, who were arrested by the Navy in the Delft Island sea area off Jaffna, were produced before the Kayts Magistrate's Court and remanded until October 15.
