Sri Lanka, Oct. 20 -- Sri Lanka is forecast to experience heavier rainfall after Tuesday (21) as a result of an atmospheric disturbance forming over the Bay of Bengal.

The Department of Meteorology's Director General, Athula Karunanayake, stated that the disturbance, which is currently located to the southeast of the country, is likely to develop into a low-pressure area.

While the system will not directly hit Sri Lanka, it is expected to intensify showers across most parts of the island.

In light of the continuing wet conditions, the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended landslide warnings for Badulla, Kandy, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura districts.
