Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- A woman has been taken into custody for her suspected involvement in an illegal archaeological excavation in the Gemunupura area.

Officers from the Ethimale Police Division made the arrest after acting on a tip-off.

The suspect, a 29-year-old local, was found with digging equipment.

A second individual at the scene is reported to have escaped, leaving behind a motorbike that police have since confiscated.

Ethimale Police are continuing their investigation to locate the absconding suspect.
