Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- Panadura Walana Anti-Corruption Unit raided an illegal abortion clinic operating behind the Beruwala Police Station this afternoon (08), resulting in the arrest of a doctor.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had previously served as the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the Beruwala area.

The raid was initiated following information received by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for the Kalutara Division, K.A. Udaya Kumara.

Under the direction of Chief Inspector Indika Weerasinghe, an undercover intelligence officer initially contacted the doctor to strategically schedule an appointment for the illegal procedure.
