Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya, announced that the police officer involved in the incident with an attorney at the Mount Lavinia Court will receive the support of the Attorney General.

The IGP also stated that the necessary future legal steps would be taken by engaging both the Attorney General's Department and a state counsel.

The IGP made the comments today (October 12) following a meeting held at the Trincomalee Hindu Cultural Hall, chaired by Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, to address issues concerning police officers in the Trincomalee and Kinniya Police Divisions.
