Sri Lanka, Oct. 28 -- The Officer-in-Charge of the Crimes Division at the Homagama Police Station has been arrested in connection with the death of a young man while in police custody.

The arrest follows directives issued by Homagama Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya to the Colombo South Crimes Division, ordering a swift investigation to apprehend and produce all involved suspects before the court.

The Magistrate's order was delivered during the hearing of a motion filed jointly by the victim's family members and several civil society organisations, who petitioned the court to direct authorities to arrest the suspects responsible for the incident.
