Sri Lanka, Oct. 4 -- New figures from Sri Lanka's Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) show a significant surge in vehicle registrations for September, recording the highest monthly figure for the year.
According to the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, Kamal Amarasinghe, a total of 10,271 motor vehicles were registered in September alone.
The DMT also reported a high number of two-wheeler registrations, with 32,845 new motorcycles officially registered during the same month.
Looking at the year-to-date figures, the Commissioner General added that a total of 37,115 motor vehicles and 160,590 new motorcycles have been registered between January and 30 September.
