Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- A low-pressure area that persisted in the sea areas of the Bay of Bengal to the northeast of the island has now developed into a depression, according to the Department of Meteorology.

The department mentions that it is expected to develop further into a deep depression within the next twenty-four hours.

Although this system has no direct impact on Sri Lanka, the rainy conditions in the southwestern part of the island is expected to continue due to the wind stream being drawn towards the system, as stated.
