Sri Lanka, Oct. 18 -- The Department of Irrigation reports that six sluice gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir have been opened due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions. Additionally, two gates of the Angamuwa Reservoir have also been opened.

The Department of Meteorology has forecast that rain or thundershowers are likely in many parts of the island this afternoon or evening.

Heavy rainfall, exceeding 100 millimetres, may occur at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North Central, and North Western provinces.

The Department advises the public to be cautious of temporary strong winds and lightning hazards that may accompany the thundershowers.
