Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- Deputy Minister of Health and Mass Media, Hansaka Wijemuni, says the country needs a cultural shift where people go to hospitals not for treating symptoms, but for proactive screening to identify diseases before symptoms appear.
He made this statement today (September 27) at a medical clinic held at Manikdiwela School, Yatinuwara, under the Arogya programme implemented by the Ministry of Health.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that one of the main challenges facing the country is the delay in non-communicable disease (NCD) control, as people often seek treatment only after symptoms have developed, which can take a considerable amount of time.
