Sri Lanka, April 30 -- Health and Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa received the "Tobacco Free Generation" scientific proposal and concept paper prepared by the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA).
The Health Ministry stated that the primary objective of this concept paper is to ensure all children born in the country after 2010 become a generation free from tobacco use.
The document was presented to the Minister at the Health Ministry by NATA Chairman, Specialist Dr Ananda Rathnayaka and LL Amila Isuru from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Rajarata.
Deputy Health Minister Dr Hansaka Wijemuni also attended the event.
Two main steps to rescue the future generation from the tobacco menace were emphasised.
