Sri Lanka, Aug. 12 -- Three-wheeler drivers in Hatton staged a protest against the police today, the 12th of August. The incident happened when police tried to remove vehicles that were parked illegally and in violation of traffic regulations.
Police say that many three-wheelers are parked in an unorganised manner, leaving no room for other vehicles. As a result, the police, in collaboration with the Hatton-Dickoya Urban Council, have begun to implement a new traffic plan.
The Urban Council has 329 registered three-wheelers and has established 15 dedicated parking lots. According to the police, only three three-wheelers can be parked in a lot at any given time. The drivers, however, say that the new plan makes it difficult for them to e...
