Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- Traffic along the Hatton-Bogawantalawa main road, which connects towards Maskeliya and Balangoda, has come to a complete standstill following an earthslip caused by heavy rainfall in the area today (20).

The earthslip occurred at around 11:00 AM in the Wanaraja Estate area in Dikoya, completely obstructing vehicular movement along the thoroughfare.

Officers from the Hatton Police Station alongside local residents have initiated clearance operations to remove the fallen earth, while the Road Development Authority has been notified of the incident.

Hatton Police have urged motorists travelling through the location to exercise extreme caution, warning that a risk of further earthfalls remains.
