Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- Attorney-at-Law Gunaratne Wanninayake has confirmed that he has been summoned by the Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters to provide a statement regarding the alleged assault on a lawyer by a police constable within the Mount Lavinia Court Complex.

Speaking to Hiru News, Wanninayake stated that the final decision on whether to give the statement will be made after discussions with the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL).

The Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters confirmed that Wanninayake accepted the notification to appear today.

The incident stems from a complaint lodged by Wanninayake at the police post on the Mount Lavinia Court premises, alleging that a police constable had assaulted his junior counsel.
