Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Speaking at a press briefing in Kilinochchi, Minister Bimal Rathnayake stated that the government plans to introduce constitutional reforms after the Provincial Council elections, which he expects to be held within the first six months of next year.

The Minister explained that the government's policy decision is to introduce a new constitution, but this will be a comprehensive process.

He emphasized that the priority is to resolve existing legal issues and hold the Provincial Council elections before moving on to the broader program of constitutional changes.

He added that once the elections are complete, the government will begin to advance with the constitutional reforms.
