Sri Lanka, June 21 -- Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekar says the government will treat the issues faced by families of missing persons as its own responsibility and take steps to address them on a priority basis.
He made these remarks while speaking to the media following a discussion held at the Jaffna District Secretariat.
The minister stated that reports indicate 2,452 individuals have gone missing in the Jaffna District alone.
He also noted that a significant number of disappearance cases are believed to have occurred without being officially reported.
