Sri Lanka, Sept. 26 -- The government has launched a comprehensive programme to recruit over 120,000 individuals into the public service within this year to fill existing vacancies, according to Minister of Public Administration Chandana Abeyratne.

The main objective of this initiative is to address staff shortages, particularly in the education, health, and agriculture sectors.

Under this recruitment drive, nearly 30,000 teachers are set to be recruited.

Competitive examinations for these posts will be held in due course, and officials have already completed all preliminary preparations to call successful candidates for interviews.
