Sri Lanka, Feb. 9 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman criticised the National People's Power (NPP) government today (9), alleging that their refusal to increase wages until 2027 is a betrayal of the working class.

Speaking at a press conference at the SJB headquarters, the MP highlighted that while the JVP-led NPP promised salary hikes every six months before coming to power, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has now stated that no increases will be possible for nearly two more years.

Rahman argued that the government is intentionally using a "pickpocket theory" distracting the public with minor issues to mask larger economic failures.
