Srilanka, Dec. 26 -- The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and former Member of Parliament, Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam, emphasised that the threat of suppression currently directed by the government against Hiru Media applies equally to all other television channels.

Kariyawasam points out that through this suppression, the government is attempting to eliminate the public's right to information.

He asserted that Hiru Media is a responsible organisation standing for the public's right to know, and characterised all current allegations levelled against the network by the government as baseless.
