Gotabaya Rajapaksa summoned to testify online in Lalith-Kugan case
Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- The Jaffna Magistrate's Court issued the order to former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to appear before the Colombo Magistrate's Court on September 29 to provide evidence on the case of Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandan who went missing in Jaffna.
Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandan went missing in the Avarangal area while organising a protest of the relatives of the missing, which was scheduled to be held in Jaffna town on December 10, 2011, coinciding with International Human Rights Day.
Accordingly, their relatives filed a habeas corpus petition in the Court of Appeal in 2012, and the Court ordered the Jaffna Magistrate's Court to examine the witnesses relevant to the incident and submit a rep...
