Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera said that he went to a forest hermitage to engage in meditation due to severe psychological stress, and not to evade court proceedings.

Speaking to the media while being led to prison today, the Thera expressed that he has no issues with the judiciary and that his actions were directed towards granting the gift of life to the people of the country.

Noting that he has worked for the country for 25 years, the Thera referenced Jesus by saying, "Drink my blood if you want, or eat my flesh," while questioning whether imprisoning him would resolve these issues.
