Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has announced it will launch islandwide trade union action from 8:00 a.m. on Monday (25).
The decision comes in protest against what the union describes as corrupt, arbitrary, and inefficient actions by officials at the Ministry of Health-particularly in connection with the disruption of the medical transfer process, allegedly carried out in defiance of guidance from the Health Minister.
Despite reaching certain agreements with the Minister, the GMOA claims these have not been implemented, leaving the union with "no choice" but to proceed with strike action.
