Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association has decided to temporarily suspend its planned island-wide strike.

The strike was scheduled to begin today (11).

The decision was made by the Executive Council of the GMOA following what it called "positive and constructive responses" to agreements reached with the Minister of Health.

The GMOA stated that it will closely monitor the progress on the doctors' transfer process and will take further action if necessary.

In the meantime, the GMOA has decided that all post-internship doctors will refrain from applying to the irregularly published list of post-internship attachment vacancies.
