Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- Four people have been killed and three others injured in a road incident that occurred in the Talawa-Moragoda area on the Anuradhapura-Kurunegala main road early this morning.

Police say a lorry travelling from Anuradhapura towards Kurunegala collided with an oncoming van.

The initial investigation suggests the van driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

A total of seven people were injured in the collision and were first taken to the Talawa District Hospital.

Three people died there, while four others were transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for further treatment, where one more person succumbed to their injuries.
