Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- Four persons were arrested by police on suspicion of attempting to abduct a nine-year-old boy in the Thelijjawila area in Akuressa.

The suspects entered the house while the boy was playing at home, tied his hands with a piece of cloth, and attempted to abduct him, police stated.

The arrested suspects are residents of the Malimbada and Hulandawa areas, police said.

Following their production before the Matara Magistrate's Court, the four suspects were remanded until the 09th.

Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
