Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- A former member of the Western Provincial Council, Chandrabhanu Adikaram of the Podujana Eksath Peramuna, was remanded until tomorrow (13) over an incident in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured by his reckless driving.

The accident happened yesterday (11) evening on the Ittapana-Avittawa road, when the former member's car was driven recklessly onto the main road and collided with the motorcyclist. The injured rider was first admitted to the Ittapana regional hospital and later transferred to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital.

He was arrested by the Ittapana Police over the reckless driving.
