Sri Lanka, Feb. 7 -- The former officer-in-charge of the Suriyakanda Police Station and a police constable attached to the same station were released on bail following their arrest for allegedly shooting and killing a sambar deer for meat.

The suspects appeared before the Embilipitiya Magistrate's Court today (07) after being taken into custody by the Police Central Anti-Crime Bureau recently.

Following the incident, the former station chief was transferred to the Ratnapura Division.
