Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has accused the current government of attempting to establish a "constitutional dictatorship" in Sri Lanka.
In response, he has proposed organising 1,000 joint opposition rallies, Satyagrahas, and protests.
Speaking at the United National Party (UNP) anniversary, the UNP Leader called on all opposition parties to unite against what he described as a serious threat.
Wickremesinghe suggested that four or five rallies should be held per electorate, with individuals from each village taking the lead to ensure a large public turnout.
He added, "Let's organise 1,000 joint rallies. Let's hold Satyagrahas. I know some of you have experience leading marches."
