Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- The Supreme Court imposed a travel ban on former Minister Premalal Jayasekara and two other defendants were previously convicted of murder and sentenced to death, but were later acquitted by the Court of Appeal.

The appeal was taken up yesterday by a three-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Justice Achala Wengappuli and Justice Gihan Kulatunga ordered that the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration be informed of the travel ban.

The court also issued notices directing Premalal Jayasekara and the two other defendants to appear before court on the 21st of next month.
