Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- Former minister Ravi Karunanayake was ordered to be released on bail by Colombo Additional Magistrate Liyan Varusha Withana regarding an incident where three employees recruited for a special project of the National Lotteries Board were allegedly deployed for his political activities, causing a loss to the government.

The magistrate ordered two sureties of Rs. 1 million each for the suspect and imposed a travel ban.

The order was issued following submissions made by the Bribery Commission when the case related to the incident was called.

The suspect parliamentarian was arrested when he arrived at the Bribery Commission today (31) to provide a statement.
